Earlier this month, I started a new project to continue my work with telematic music: The Telematic Composers Project. Right now, it is a group on Facebook with the purpose of gathering musicians and composers interested in creating new music for telematic performances. I am hoping to expand this into a wide online network.
As noted in my previous posts, there is a very limited amount of music available to perform over the Internet. This is especially true when it comes to high school students. At the collegiate level and beyond, telematic musicians are much more capable of composing their own works.
My hope is that this will become a community of composers sharing their ideas about how to creatively address the lag created by slower Internet connections. In addition, I hope that this will help to spark the rise of telematic music in schools.
