This semester, I am auditing a computer music programming class and learning how to code using the rtcmix language. Using rtcmix, I composed this piece. “Paradise rtRemix” uses stems from Eric Whitacre’s “Fly to Paradise” as well as randomly generated waveforms, random pitches selected from the Eb major scale, and an audio file found on freesound.org. The “Fly to Paradise” stems are routed through a DEL1 instrument and a REV to create a delay and reverb, respectively. The pitches are routed through a MOOGVCF instrument. The MOOGVCF is programmed to serve as a band pass filter that sweeps up and down the frequency spectrum.
